How long does the bathtub refinishing process take?

Typically, when refinishing a tub you can expect the process to take between 4-5 hours however, Crown Resurfacing's emphasis will always be on providing the client with top quality work and if on occasion this requires additional time/attention, where excessive damage has occurred, we are committed to taking whatever steps are deemed necessary to achieve that end.

Is the new finish the same as the original finish?

The patented polymer that we use does bond directly to the tub, thus creating the look and feel of a new tub.

How long after completion of the process before we can use the tub?

Same day use with our premium topcoat, however please observe a 4 hour cure time.

What kind of repairs can you do?

As it relates to bath fixtures, the refinishing process can resolve all of the following: cracks, rust, scratches, dull spots, chips, pits and discoloration. Where kitchen countertops are concerned, resurfacing is a viable method of fixing burns, chips, scratches and knife cuts.

Is reglazing the same as refinishing?

Yes, they both describe the act of preparing and refinishing porcelain, tile or laminate fixtures in the bathroom and kitchen.

What colors are available?

When it comes to truly customizing your color choices, refinishing is your only option. We offer stock colors of bone, white or almond, but any custom color choice is possible, as Crown Resurfacing utilizes the same color wheel as Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore.

Will my tub look painted?

No. Due to the professional method of application, and the super smooth, high gloss finish of the spray gun, there will be no brush marks or drips.

How much does it cost?

Refinishing is always your most competitively priced option especially, when compared to the cost of replacement or liners. We'll be happy to provide a free estimate at your request. Please call us at 952.956.4383 or use the form to the right.

What if my fixture is damaged?

No problem. Damage to existing fixtures is one of the major reasons to consider refinishing. Contact us and we'll be happy to give you our professional opinion.

What bathroom and kitchen surfaces can be refinished?

Tubs, wall tile, sinks, vanity tops, showers and shower bases, cultured marble, Formica countertops, kitchen cabinetry, cast iron porcelain, fiberglass, and acrylic.

My tub was refinished by someone else and is peeling. What would cause this to happen?

More likely than not, shortcuts were taken during the preparation process. Often this type of inferior quality work will result in a weak bond between the topcoat and the previous finish. We are meticulous in our preparation of the work surface for just this reason - so the bond is super strong resulting in years of use. We will not skip steps and use the best premium materials on the market.

My fiberglass tub/shower has a crack in it. Can it be repaired?

Most definitely. We have several processes to repair fiberglass fixtures. The preferred method is proportionate to the damage in question. Call us at 952.956.4383 and based on your specific need, we will recommend the most cost effective solution.

Can I expect the same results from a DIY kit from a home improvement store?

No. DIY kits are limited both in strength and durability. Typically they fail within a month or two and usually consist of an epoxy coating that takes up to 5 days to dry and yellows significantly over time. Most kits are rolled or brushed on the fixture, giving an unsightly and amateurish looking finish. Some kits are sprayed on with an aerosol can, causing uneven coverage, dry spray and drips. The mirror-like finish you really want cannot be achieved without proper training and experience and professional spray equipment.

Do you also refinish countertops, tile or sinks?

Without a doubt!

Are there any offensive odors?

To a degree this is to be expected anytime painting is done in your home, however we minimize these odors by using a sophisticated exhaust system that vents dust and odor to the outside while we work. Some companies use a box fan. That's simply not sufficient.
